What was the thinking behind the concept?
Our inspiration for the ornaments on the dress stems from the Tehuana bride in Mexico's Oaxaca state. Early-in-life fascination with films triggered the inspiration –these films made Pedro Infante and Maria Felix; she dressed in this lovely garb. However, it is the famous artist, Frida Kahlo, who takes credit in diffusing the Tehuana attire around the world.

The white cloth embroidered headdress shines as the "bright sun", and frames the women's facial beauty. The headdress provides an embellishing, cascading elegance to the whole ensemble equal to none.

Once we decided upon developing the Headdress concept, the idea was to leverage on the reflection of the silver color to make the poster interactive. Observers will not only see their faces reflected on it, but feel they are part of the Chicago Film Festival 25th Anniversary celebration.

De dónde salió la idea?

Nos llamó la atención el tocado del traje típico de la novia Tehuana de la región de Oaxaca en México. Películas con Pedro Infante y María Felix causaron una fascinación, el traje fue usado por María Felix. Pero la mujer que se encargó de difundir por el mundo este vestido -el de la Tehuana- fue la afamada artista Frida Kahlo.

El tocado de tela blanca bordado, como “sol luminoso” enmarcaba sólo la belleza facial de la mujer, y su caída le daba una elegancia de vuelo, detalle único del traje. No hay tocado parecido en ninguna otra parte del mundo.

Cuando decidimos desarrollar esta idea, se nos ocurrió hacerlo interactivo y al trabajar con el color plateado podíamos reflejar las imágenes o caras de los observadores que pasarían por delante del afiche y comunicar así que “la celebración de las bodas de plata del Chicago Latino Film Festival es contigo también”
