LEADERS UNITE TO CELEBRATE THE BEST OF CHICAGO’S LATINO
CULTURE AT THE HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH CULTURAL EVENT,
5th VIVE LA HISPANIDAD
Despite the cold and rainy weather, over 600 of Chicago’s leaders and professionals gathered to celebrate the best of Chicago’s Latino culture at the 5th Vive La Hispanidad, a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. Guests were delighted by a virtual voyage through Latin America and Spain via exhilarating live entertainment, eclectic cuisine and a kaleidoscope of colors on sculptures, paintings, furnishings and multimedia installations created by Latino artists.
Vive La Hispanidad marks the conclusion of Hispanic Heritage Month in Chicago and is supported by an Honorary Committee composed of a selected group of distinguished leaders from various fields. This year marks the first time in Vive La Hispanidad history that a second local non-profit organization, The Resurrection Project (TRP) receives a donation as announced by Honorary Committee members Dr. Enrique Beckmann, CEO of MetroSouth Medical Center, Richard L. Rodriguez, President of the CTA and Chicago Alderman Danny Solis. The donation will benefit TRP’s new project, “La Casa” a neighborhood residence hall for local college students slated to open for the 2011 academic year in the Pilsen neighborhood. The celebration also recognized Latino achievements in healthcare, education and green living.
