El Prado de las Estrellas/ The Field of Stars (Spain, 2007, directed by Mario Camus)
Synopsis
Interconnected stories center on a meadow, remembered by some as the paradise of their childhood, and representing for others a chance to make money by developing a housing project. The film lets the viewer meet and get to know the people in Cantabria (Northern Spain), their aspirations and past histories, their hopes and dreams, and the conflicts between the older life style and the new, encroaching possibilities and pressures. All this, in the midst of breath-taking scenery…
Narraciones interconectadas se centran en un prado, que algunos recuerdan como paraíso de su niñez, y que representa para otros una oportunidad de ganar dinero, construyendo en el prado un complejo residencial. La película permite al espectador llegar a conocer a la gente de Cantabria (Norte de España), sus aspiraciones e historias pasadas, sus sueños y esperanzas, y los conflictos entre el viejo estilo de vida y las posibilidades y presiones nuevas del día. Y todo esto, en paisajes naturales que le quitan a uno la respiración…

Synopsis
Grandma Maria had been promised by Gaetano, her husband of over 55 years that she would be taken to Italy, his country of birth. It did not happen. Now she is ready, and she will take her children and grandchildren over. And it happens. Or does it? The viewer wants to go along, there is too much at stake.
A la abuela María, Gaetano (su marido por 55 años) le prometió que la llevaría a Italia, donde él había nacido. Pero el viaje nunca tuvo lugar. Ahora ella está dispuesta, y llevará consigo a sus hijos y nietos. ¿Lo logrará o no? El espectador quiere viajar con ellos. Hay mucho en juego.

Angel (U.S. Puerto Rico, 2007, directed by Jacobo Morales)
Synopsis
Mariano Farias is freed from the penitentiary after 13 years. He maintains his innocence, and believes that Angel, a police investigator, fabricated the evidence against him.And that, while Mariano was away, Angel caused the death of his wife. Mariano is going to investigate these facts, implicating the original prosecutor and Angel's close collaborator, Jose Villanueva. Will justice be served this time?
Mariano Farias sale de la penitenciaría después de 13 años. Mantiene su inocencia, y cree que Ángel, un oficial de la policía, falseó la evidencia contra él. Y que mientras Mariano no estaba, Ángel mató a su mujer. Mariano investigará estos hechos, involucrará al antiguo fiscal y al colaborador más estrecho de Ángel, José Villanueva. ¿Se hará justicia ésta vez?

“Jacobo Morales ha sido factor importantísimo en el teatro, en la radio, en la televisión y en el cine, en Puerto Rico y fuera de Puerto Rico también, aunque siempre ha preferido el escenario y el tema puertorriqueños. Sin duda ninguna hablamos del más multifacético y talentoso de los artistas de Puerto Rico de todos los tiempos. Pero no son esas las principales cualidades de Jacobo Morales.
Apegado a unos principios inamovibles, con convicciones serias y profundas y la más absoluta determinación de vivir al amparo de ellas y de cara al sol, sabe que la única manera de desarrollarse es cultivando los compromisos con el ser humano: la familia, los amigos, su pueblo y la afirmación del destino individual y colectivo.
Por toda la segunda mitad del Siglo Veinte, Jacobo ha sido un verdadero faro. La luz a la cual mirar para la orientación correcta; más que un ser humano, ha sido una entidad de búsqueda y encuentro; un punto de apoyo y una respuesta. Desde la multiplicidad de tareas (y la excelencia en su desempeño) ha sido el ancle más relevante en los primeros 50 años de la televisión en Puerto Rico”.

Dedicated to ingrained principles, with serious and deep convictions and an absolute determination to live under the protection of them with a bright look to future, he knows the only way to develop is to cultivate his commitments to human beings: family, friends, village, and affirmation of individual and collective destiny.
For the second half of the 20th Century, Jacobo has been a true lighthouse.
